about me

Hi, I’m Mateusz Olszewski

I’m a polymer chemist with a strong background in both academic and industrial research. I earned my Ph.D. in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University, where I conducted research in the Matyjaszewski Polymer Group. My expertise lies in designing and synthesizing macromolecules with precisely defined nanoscale dimensions, architectures, and compositions to meet the exacting requirements of applications in life sciences and beyond. My work focuses on developing polymer materials with tailored properties such as biocompatibility, stability, and stimuli responsiveness, enabling their integration into advanced biomedical technologies and specialized fields.

Driven by a passion for creative problem-solving and interdisciplinary collaboration, I thrive in research environments that push the boundaries of material science. Whether enhancing polymer functionality or advancing their commercial applications, I am committed to refining polymer-related technologies and contributing to impactful R&D efforts. With a deep technical foundation, adaptability, and enthusiasm for innovation, I aim to support meaningful advancements in polymer science and its industrial applications.

When not in the lab, I spend my free time working on one of my several passion projects. I like to create 3D models and scenes in Blender. I also am very passionate about 3D printing, both SLA and FDM. I often program in Python, mostly for fun – I once built a small self-driving robot to chase our cat Mimi around the house. Sometimes on the weekends, I meet with people over Discord and give free lessons on 3D modelling.
